I just realized that Kelly has two years of high school left and then I'm pretty much done raising children. Technically. I never thought it would bother me. I thought I'd relish the freedom. But I know what you mean. It's kind of sad.

Sounds like an excellent ride with Fancy!! I know what you mean about the looking right and left...Fritzy does that non stop. And when I'm following behind I see that she always looks right and left, she weaves on the trail like she is drunk. I'm always laughing at her.
Brandy gets separation anxiety and it can get pretty bad. And once she gets all worked up it's hard to get her calmed back down.

Hank got DNC?? Who'd of thunk? :) For me, it was really a matter of breaking it down. I know she may not do this, this and this, but lets get really good at THAT and then we'll work on this. At IC 2 yrs ago, we were to back between two trees. Simple enough - she has a great back. But she decided she wanted to eat the branches above her instead of back. They always surprise us! I hope we do meet on the trail. A friend has mentioned Oklahoma in November....

Do you realize that Hank had many "DNC" (did not complete) notations on his score cards in 2009 when he won Presidents Cup? You give them a go, and if you can't do it, then you move on. But the key to doing them well, is practicing doing things on rides at home that are more difficult, tricky etc. than you would hopefully ever have to do on any other ride. Be it up and down ravines, or side passing over things etc. Then, when you are asked to do one at a ride, have your thoughts go to: "We CAN do this, I have done worse at home, I'm gonna show this judge how WELL we can do it"

Ah, thanks, Terri. I miss that little red mare terribly. She didn't stand a chance at that first ride with me but I think she could have had a comeback! :)

I want to do Turkey Creek SOO bad but CGW is the week prior and missing 2 of Case's football games in a row might not make me mother of the year. Same thing with Bullet. He still looks lean to me. I've been chalking it up to him being older. You're thinking younger. Maybe it's because it's harder to put weight ON them than to take it off. It takes longer. I don't know...

Your rides are so awesome...I wish I had a group riding horse in mine...but some of the groups around here are yahoo-ish and I can't depend on sane rides.

Fancy looks lean and good to me for her age. The mouth check will reveal more and anything that needs to be addressed for weight.
Windy looks awesome too!

I want to know how Windy keeps her figure, on fulltime pasture??! Cooper looks like a cartoon balloon-drawing horse, and he is on a diet of 4 hours a day--total--of pasture. And that's his entire daily ration. Even riding hours per week, he stays fat. I need to find some skinny TB's to eat this grass down. Remind me to NOT look for 'easy keepers' next time I look for a horse..

You and I ARE alike! I worship the ground my Ariat All Terrains walk on and I would marry my Wrangler Q Babys if I wasn't already married. In fact, I just bought two more pairs last night.

I'll tell you what those Boot Stroots would also be good for--you know the new boots that are in style--not for horse stuff--those tall boots that go up to the knee and sometimes over? Bar boots. Some of them only zip up halfway like mine. It is a nightmare getting your jeans down them! I would love to try those Boot Stroots!

I would also love to try those shoes. I don't like the concussion from hard shoes but sometimes a horse needs shoes. I'm like you, barefoot if possible. These sound like a decent compromise.
